The University of Hawaii - West Oahu (UHWO) is a public university located in Kapolei, Hawaii, United States. It is one of ten campuses of the University of Hawaii system. The university offers bachelor's degrees in liberal arts, business administration, education, and nursing.
UHWO was established in 1976 as a two-year community college called West Oahu College. In 2007, the college was renamed University of Hawaii - West Oahu and began offering four-year degrees. The university is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
The university's campus is located on 156 acres (63 ha) of land in the Kapolei region of Oahu. The campus is adjacent to the Hawaii Technology Development Corporation and the U.S. Army's Makua Military Reservation.
UHWO has a student body of approximately 2,500 students. The university is governed by a nine-member Board of Regents, appointed by the Governor of Hawaii. The university is headed by a chancellor, who is assisted by an executive vice chancellor and vice chancellors for academic affairs, administration, and student affairs.
The university offers bachelor's degrees in liberal arts, business administration, education, and nursing. The liberal arts program offers courses in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The business administration program offers courses in accounting, finance, management, and marketing. The education program offers courses in elementary and secondary education. The nursing program offers courses in nursing theory, research, and practice.
UHWO is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The university is a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities and the Association of Asian Universities.
